Yesterday the 79th edition of the Hugo Awards, one of the main awards dedicated to the world of fantasy and science fiction literature. For the 2021 ceremony, the jury has decided to include (at least for this year) a new award, dedicated to Best Video Game, conferred to Hades by Supergiant Games.
Being a prize experimental, among the candidates we find productions released during the year 2020 including The Last of Us Part 2, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Spiritfarer, Blaseball e Final Fantasy VII Remake. The fact remains that this is a further milestone reached by Supergiant Games and Greg Kasavin, creative director and screenwriter of the game, who intervened via tweet to comment on what happened.
Wish I could have attended the #HugoAwards in person. I wasn't able to make an acceptance speech there on behalf of the team though did have a few words here. I'm grateful that the awards are recognizing work in this category, much less the work we did! pic.twitter.com/S9bfSp1i8H

“I would have liked to be present at the Hugo Awards. I was unable to deliver an acceptance speech representing the team, but I have a few things to say. I am happy that the various awards are starting to recognize the work done in this category. "
Kasaviv also expects the award to be repeated in the next few years to come. The video game is actually opening up to other areas and other events capable of highlighting every element of its structure, even outside the “pad in hand” gameplay.
