The historic composer of the Dragon Quest saga, Koichi Sugiyama, has passed away at the age of 90. He has created over 500 songs for the videogame series.
Square Enix has made official the Official site of Dragon Quest the disappearance of Koichi Sugiyama, who died last September 30, 2021 at the age of 90. The composer passed away due to a septic shock, aggravated by the man's venerable age. During his life, which began in Tokyo in 1931, Sugiyama achieved worldwide success thanks to the Dragon Quest saga, for which he wrote over 500 songs, some of which were also used at the opening of the last Tokyo Olympics.
Akira Toriyama, historic designer of the saga, and producer Yuji Horii expressed deep sorrow about the news, fondly remembering the musician and composer.
