IO Interactive, study behind the development of Hitman 3, has published one official communication joint with epic Games, stating that PC gamers will not be required to repurchase Hitman 2 content on the Epic Games Store to unlock additional missions and scenarios.
As previously announced, Hitman 3 gives you the chance to play some of the content from the first two chapters making them, essentially, "Some DLC for the third episode" as explained by IO Interactive itself.
The problem for the PC user, however, arose from the request to actually be in possession of the first two iterations of the franchise. A seemingly problematic question, since Hitman 3 is an Epic Games Store temporal exclusive, where the GOTY Edition of the first chapter also resides ... but not of the second, which is not present in the digital market of the Fortnite house.
It was initially disclosed that players would have to purchase Hitman 2 content in the form of DLC again on the Epic Games Store, but the flare-up generated by the discontent of users (especially those who had purchased such additional content on Steam) convinced IO Interactive and Epic Games to take a step back and rethink their strategy.
We never want players to feel forced to repurchase content on the Epic Game Store that they bought on another PC store so they can access features in a new game.
We are working closely with IO Interactive and you will be able to access past content from earlier HITMAN games. https://t.co/1MAT1O0Nly
