Shortly after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar made available Red Dead Online as the multiplayer component of the game. The mode offers a very different experience to that of the campaign, allowing the player to choose their own path as an outlaw in the old west.
Surprisingly, Rockstar announced that Red Dead Online will be available as a standalone game from December. Furthermore, the title will be heavily discounted for the first few months. From the first of December therefore it will no longer be necessary to purchase Red Dead Redemption 2 to play online.

The discounted price will be around five dollars, and then go up again at full price just under the twenty starting February 15, 2021. Red Dead Online will be available on PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Launcher, Epic Games Store, and Steam.
The launch of Red Dead Online will coincide with that of the new expansion of Red Dead Redemption 2, Bounty Hunter, which will add several new features to the game.
