It seems that right now, inside the headquarters of Ubisoft Montreal (Canada), dozens of employees of the firm have been taken hostage and confined within the building.

The news came through the various Canadian media and for now the situation is quite tense. At the moment the intentions of the criminals involved are not clear, nor the actual number of people trapped inside the studio. However, not all employees appear to be inside the building, as Assassin's Creed: Valhalla Narrative Director communicated Darby mcdevitt. Others have remained stuck in the office or barricaded themselves on the terrace.

Meanwhile, the local police department called on all residents to stay indoors and to avoid the area of Saint Laurent.

We will keep you posted.

UPDATE (20:51): According to the statements of the journalist of Radio Canada Kim Vermette, it appears that the study has been targeted by some thieves.

UPDATE (22:25): The evacuation of the staff inside the building continues while the police, after having examined and confirmed the safety of the building, begin to investigate the hypothesis of a phone joke.

UPDATE (01:23): Here is the official Ubisoft release on the incident:

“We want to honor the courage and composure shown by our team today, our goal remains to ensure their health and well-being. We would also like to thank the SPVM for their prompt and professional response, helping to bring the situation under control.
