Take-Two CodemastersTake-Two confirmed it has reached an agreement to acquire Codemasters, the English studio specializing in racing games. The news, now in the air for days, came via a note for investors specifying that the entire operation will have a total cost of 994 million dollars and will be finalized in the first quarter of 2021.

"Codemasters has a renowned history of creating some of the most highly regarded and commercially successful racing franchises and we believe their offering is highly complementary to our sports portfolio and will further enhance our organization's growth over the long term." said Strauss Zelnick, boss of Take-Two.

He echoes it Gerhard Florin, chairman of Codemasters: "With a market-leading position in the sports gaming industry, the Codemasters board firmly believes that the company will benefit from the broad possibilities offered by Take-Two, which will help propel Codemasters' long-term success."

This is the second British acquisition in a short time for Take-Two which had finalized in October the purchase of the Scots of Ruffian games, then officially renamed to Rockstar Dundee.
