A few months ago we told you about GoldenEye 25, a remake of the classic GoldenEye 007 came out Nintendo 64 and developed by the team of Project Ianus. Well, it seems the fan team has sadly development stopped, due to a series of Cease & Desist by the owner of the IP.

Through this Tweet, the developer has disclosed some small details about what happened. It seems in fact that the company Danjaq - company holding the copyright for any project related to James Bond - has ordered the Project Ianus guys to finish the work.
This setback won't stop the guys who - having already completed much of the work on the assets of the game - they will try to rework the material created to develop a new original IP, allowing the release of the latter on Steam e consul.
No doubt you're wondering what's happened. We're not allowed to continue using the name GoldenEye or the James Bond characters. We'll take what we've made and create an original game. Unfortunate, but at least we can be on Steam now and console ports are possibilities.
