Switch users have been looking forward to a new one for months Nintendo Direct. The last one was broadcast in September 2019 followed by Mini Direct, Indie Showcase and single game trailers; surely we would have had one for E3 2020, but the world situation has canceled the plans of the Japanese company.
So when will we see a new Direct? Maybe early, maybe late, what's for sure is that Nintendo is thinking of other better formats to announce their games. TO talk about it was the president Shuntaro Furukawa, declaring that in the future the company could abandon Direct in favor of something else:
We believe that Nintendo Direct is an incredibly effective way to present information directly to our customers in a very direct way. It must be said, however, that times change and so also the most effective way to promote products, so there is the possibility that in the future there will be a new and better way to present this information.
We always like to examine all possible ways to communicate this information to customers.
Direct have always been highly appreciated, so much so that they have been copied (although announcing something with dedicated videos has certainly not invented Nintendo) by Sony and Microsoft. But the time has come for move on and use some better format?
