Disco Elysium, probably one of the best RPG in recent years, has met with good commercial success, finding the favor of videogame criticism and taking home as many as four prizes at the Game Awards 2019.
Its popularity may now expand further, since ZA / UM has reached an agreement with the production company DJ2 Entertainment for the creation of a TV series inspired by the game.
"We are so gratified by the audience response obtained by Disco Elysium and we are happy to partner with DJ2 to expand the franchise to other media and a new audience" said Helen Hindpere, lead writer at ZA / UM.
An enthusiasm also paid for by DJ2: "Disco Elysium is a phenomenal property, with an expansive world and unlimited potential" said Dmitri J. Johnson, CEO of the production company. "The DJ2 team is really excited about this extraordinary opportunity to be part of everything."
The project is still in an embryonic phase and it is not yet certain whether this will reach the small screen. According to a report by Variety, there is not yet an author for the TV series nor a network linked to it, but DJ2 is currently holding meetings in search of both and plans to start the project by the end of the year.
Disco Elysium is just one of the video game titles for which the production company has been awarded the rights: it goes in fact to support Vampyr, Life is Strange, Ruiner and Little Nightmares.
