No Direct, no pre-announcement, no rumor: surprise Nintendo announced the arrival, the 17 July next, of Paper Mario: The Origami King, on Nintendo Switch.

This is the official press release:

Ready to go for an adventure full of fun? Then you cannot miss this special invitation for a colorful world of paper! Join Princess Peach, Mario and Luigi for the origami festival of the kingdom in Paper Mario: The Origami King, an exclusive for Nintendo Switch coming July 17th. There is something wrong, though: recently Princess Peach is a little strange.

It seems that King Olly, who proclaims himself sovereign of the Kingdom of Origami, has devised a plan to bend the world to his will. On paper it looks dangerous, so a hero is needed to put the sticks in the wheels! In Paper Mario: The Origami King, Mario will face one of his most gripping challenges so far. Just when things couldn't have been worse, King Olly wrapped Princess Peach's castle in giant colored ribbons, transporting it to a distant mountain. He even turned Bowser's henchmen into origami soldiers, to use them for his evil purposes.

Fortunately, Mario has a range of new tools on his side that will help him get the better of him. A new skill called "Arti magni" allows players to interact with the environment by lifting and pulling certain elements to reveal new places, solve puzzles and discover hidden surprises. Along the way, Mario will also meet old and new allies such as Olivia, King Olly's mild sister. Even Bowser himself has not bowed to the will of the Origami King and Mario is ready to accept his help with open arms!

Paper Mario: The Origami King introduces a new combat system based on a ring platform in which players must find a way to align enemies, maximizing damage, in dynamic turn-based battles. In order to triumph, you will need to show off all your puzzle skills. With a world full of details, original minigames and tons of mysteries to unravel, Mario's next adventure on Nintendo Switch promises endless fun.

A really nice surprise for all owners of Nintendo Switch and lovers of Paper Mario! Who knows if in the coming weeks we will have other announcements from Nintendo ... that easter egg at the end of the trailer already makes us dream.
