Epic Games has announced that two-factor authentication (2FA) is now required to redeem the titles offered for free on its store. The reason behind this move is still unknown and is probably due to the company's decision to incentivize users to make their accounts safer.
However, the measure entered into force since 28 April it is not definitive and will only be required until May 21, unless further communications.
The Epic Games Store has certainly been characterized by a very aggressive commercial policy since its launch, with the large amount of titles provided free of charge to users every Thursday, and it is curious to note how it was decided to promote this security measure by combining it with the redemption free games, being required only in this case.
Two-factor authentication must be activated from your settings Epic Games account and it is available via SMS, App Authenticator and Email.
