Reggie Fils-Aime, beloved ex-president of Nintendo of America, recently told in a podcast (which you can recover here) a curious episode related to the Nintendo logo.

It seems indeed that Nintendo intended to change its historic logo to make it more attractive to a more adult audience. Here are Reggie's words:

"There was almost a sense of shame that our brand had taken hold of young consumers, so the Nintendo of America marketing team began to modify the classic logo (written Nintendo inside an oval shape) trying to make it similar to a graffiti, trying to make it look more ruined. I stopped all this, because it would no longer be faithful to our brand. Yes, we had to expand our catchment area, but staying true to ourselves, without any kind of lie. "

Thus Nintendo decided to keep the classic design without changing it, the same that still accompanies every product of the Kyoto company.
