Since the launch of 4 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, back in 2007, Activision rewrote the rules of first person shooter modern, setting the standards for most FPS that would come out in the years to come. From that iconic fourth chapter, the brand has now become an annual appointment, and punctually, despite the quality of the various CoDs is fluctuating (see Ghosts and Advanced Warfare), every year the titles published by Activision dug out as for sales, so much so that as many as ten of the fifteen best-selling video games of the decade just spent belong to the brand of Call of duty.

Here is the list of the fifteen best-selling video games from 2010 to 2019 compiled by NDP Group:

  1. Grand Theft Auto V
  2. Call of Duty: Black Ops
  3. Call of Duty: Black Ops II
  4. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
  5. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
  6. Call Of Duty: Ghosts
  7. Red Dead Redemption II
  8. Call of Duty: WWII
  9. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
  10. Minecraft
  11. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
  12. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019
  13. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  14. Mario barth 8
  15. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  16. Battlefield 1
  17. Battlefield 4
  18. Destiny
  19. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  20. Star Wars Battlefront 2015

It is not surprising to see Grand Theft Auto V at the top of the ranking, but surely, for better or for worse, the CoD saga has marked this decade, approaching the large masses to the videogame medium as no genre had been able to do before.
