CD Project Red keep talking about cyberpunk 2077. As part of a presentation of profits, management confirmed that the game has entered the "relatively final phase" of development and that it will present some form of microtransactions, although the company is not yet ready to confirm the details.
"We believe that it is now far too early to share any details in this regard or to provide guidance even if the project is in the final phase," said Cyberpunk's multiplayer transaction manager.
The company added that it is continually experimenting with new multiplayer game modes. It is not at all easy considering that in reality it would be the first multiplayer title made by CD Projekt Red. The chosen business model could be that of a free title supported by microtransactions.
That said, CD Projekt Red wants to make sure that it continues to be a consumer-friendly company by providing valuable content to players. The Polish study is known to be generous with post-release content. For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, he offered more than a dozen free DLCs.
"We continue to experiment. It's our first multiplayer game. We evaluate different options and possibilities, and surely it is not the time to point out a specific direction in which we are going. But we will not change our general policy towards players. So expect wise monetization and value for money, "the company said.
In the presentation, CD Projekt Red added that the Cyberpunk multiplayer game is a "smaller project" with "reduced staff" compared to the main team working on Cyberpunk 2077 single player mode.
Cyberpunk 2077, which features Keanu Reeves in the cast, will be released in April 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The multiplayer mode will presumably follow the launch of the game, although no official announcements have been made at this stage.
