The first gaming benchmarks for the upcoming processor are coming Cascade Lake-X, the Intel Core i9 10980XE. This processor boasts 18 core, supports up to 36 threads and can accelerate in turbo on all cores at 3,8GHz. However, it seems that this specific CPU is slower in PC games than the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and Intel Core i9 9900K.
The games tested by Lab501 are the following:
Far Cry: New Dawn, Dawn of War 3 and Metro Exodus. In Metro Exodus, the performance differences were negligible (especially due to the fact that it is a title more tied to the GPU). In Dawn of War 3, the i9 10980XE turned out to be slower than at least 20 frames per second compared to the i9 9900K and the Ryzen 9 3900X.
The widest difference however, it was seen with Far Cry: New Dawn. As is now known, the latest Far Cry were both more likely to exploit and stress the CPU and it was reported a difference that could reach up to 31fps posting.
Clearly though, the Intel i9 10980XE it's not meant for PC gamers. No wonder he can't beat the old models designed specifically for gaming. As if that were not enough, let's remember that the i9 9900K can go in turbo to 4,7GHz on all cores, in other words we talk about 1GHz of difference, from here explained the different performances.
