One of the biggest gatherers of information on video games, theInternet Gaming Database, was purchased from Twitch (owned by Amazon), such as announced by Jerome Richer De Forges, owner of IGDB:

Our aim has always been to create the most complete video game database in the world. This is an incredible feat for such a small team.

Thanks to Twitch's experience, resources and skills, we will be able to accelerate our progress towards the IGDB version we have always dreamed of achieving.

At the moment things will not change and the Internet Gaming Database API will remain, with the positive news that there will no longer be a paid subscription; everything will be free.

We'll see how Twitch will exploit this huge database of data and if this will lead it even more to rival Steam as a digital store.
