Gears 5 will be officially released 10 September but early access will start for some 5 September and will be available for Ultimate Edition owners on Steam, Xbox One and Windows Store and for subscribers Game Pass Ultimate.

However, the game requires access to Xbox Live, also on Steam. Here are the requirements:

Gears 5 includes a singleplayer campaign, playable alone or in a co-op with two other players. Two control the characters of the story while the third takes control of Jack, the robot, which provides health buffs to teammates and can also annoy enemy units.

Gears 5 will also contain the Horde mode from launch along with a completely new mode, called Escape. A race against time to escape from an enemy base.

There is also the Versus mode, with a total of 11 maps, seven of which are playable in multiplayer and Orda while the other four are dedicated to Escape mode. Also, only in private games, five Gears 4 maps will be available.
