Phil Spencer, head of the division Xbox, gave an interview to Kotaku in which, between the various topics, also spoke of Sea of Thieves and said it would be a completely different game without the Game Pass.
Sea of Thieves is a very different game since it was released last year and Spencer considers this its gradual evolution as an example of how the Xbox Game Pass service is changing the way players are involved and how community feedback is an integral part of the development and growth of a security.
Spencer explained that publishing the game immediately on Game Pass has made it, over time, very different in comparison to a possible postponement of a year and, therefore, of a longer internal development process. Here are his words:
"At the time of the launch there were various comments like: 'Where is the other half of the game?'. But I would also like to say that what is today does not correspond to what it would have been like if we had waited another year holding it for us. It's a game that was literally created with community feedback. "
