The Analogix VirtualLink reference project introduces virtual reality in gaming laptops that will connect to future HDM VR with a single cable

SANTA CLARA, California– (BUSINESS WIRE) -Analogix Semiconductor, Inc. today announced the availability of its reference project VirtualLink ™ which implements VirtualLink directly on the motherboard of high-performance gaming notebooks, allowing virtual reality (VR) support through a USB-C ™ connector. Even the external accessories can take advantage of the reference design to interface the pre-existing graphic processing units (GPU) with screens mounted on the VR head compatible with VirtualLink.

Presented by a consortium led by NVIDIA, Oculus, Valve, AMD and Microsoft, the alternative VirtualLink mode of USB Type-C ™ has been designed to provide the power, display capacity and data needed to power VR viewers through a single connector USB Type-C, eliminating the need for multiple cables.
