Bungie announced that his games in the series Destiny they will no longer be published by Activision. The development team has acquired all the IP rights and will self-publish the next titles.
Here is what communicated by the company:
We have enjoyed eight years of success and would like to thank Activision for the Destiny partnership. Looking forward, we are pleased to announce plans for the transfer of publication rights for Destiny from Activision to Bungie. With our amazing Destiny community, we are ready to publish on our own, while Activision will increase its focus on IP ownership.
Bungie will still continue to work on Destiny 2.
With Forsaken we have learned and listened to and focused on what we believe our players want from a great Destiny experience. Rest assured that there is more on the street. We will continue to comply with the existing Destiny roadmap and look forward to releasing more seasonal experiences in the coming months, as well as surprising our community with some exciting announcements of what's beyond.
It will be interesting to see now whether the next Destiny game - or even Destiny 2 - will be based or not on micro-transactions. Destiny 2 has also been heavily criticized for its micro-transactions and now that Activision is out of the field, we can't wait to see what Bungie will do.
