After years of continuous updates and support, the Minecraft team announced that the next update with the aquatic content will be the last significant update for the PS3 version, Xbox, PlayStation Vita and Wii U.

Mojang explained that the decision to leave these versions back was dictated by the need to fully support the platforms where most users play. Last generation versions only count 5% of active players.

The study also said that owners of Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will not receive the update, but will have to download a new version of the game to access it.
